It's been good, Camogli!
It has been a great week here in Camogli. We were shown a great time by our friends Alessandra and Tommy, and we had some great day trips on our own out and about in the town and around on the ferry. Camogli is a sweet place, with good food and friendly people. Chloe and I are punch drunk from the sun, and the alcohol and are sad to leave, but are excited for our next stop - Siena!
Sunset (No description necessary):
We used the self timer on my phone, so it caught a little bit of the concrete step up front:
Did someone say Gelato?
Down by the ferry before sunset, and right after dinner :)
Seafood platter:
Pizza!
Views from dinner :
After six hours on the beach, one must hide from the sun (we didn't have an umbrella).
Tuna Nicoise salad. Fresh Fresh Fresh!
The Italy beach scene. It's crowded, but everyone has their own chair, at least if you'd like one. We rented a pair for the day for 20 Euros. We wanted nice ones with umbrellas but they were all booked for the day already. Most people staying on the beach rent a chair for the season so the nice ones are hard to come by. We settled for ones without umbrellas and roasted in the sun. There is so much water that once you get in personal space is not an issue, and because the water is so buoyant you can float for days. Floating on your back with your eyes closed, you can almost fall asleep. It's pretty cool. Chloe and I would roast in the the sun then jump in the water, roast, then water. We were well seasoned and cooked by the time dinner rolled around.
The beaches have smooth rocks, or large pebbles, on them. They were not to our liking the first day, but as your feet get used to them they are not so bad. There is no sand in your swimwear at the end of the day, and in the water some of them feel quite nice on your feet when you touch the bottom of the sea.
The day before yesterday we took the ferry to another small beach in San Fruttuoso. Here we got lucky and were able to get two nice chairs with sun protection and an umbrella. The water here is a bright turquoise blue.

So, what you are saying is that you went all the way to Europe to have basically the same experience we had at Lake Michigan for 45 minutes with two toddlers and a baby? : )
ReplyDeleteLiked that "seasoned and cooked"... you must be well done after all that sun fun!
